Arizon'a Immigration Crackdown

Arizona lawmakers have just passed a bill that would require police to stop any person if there is a "reasonable suspicion" that this person is in the country without legal immigration documents.

A search warrant is not required. Police just have to suspect--it could be based on looks--that this person might be in the country illegally. "Suspect--based on looks" ... better known as racial profiling. Everyone's civil rights--regardless of citizenship status--will be violated by this law. The effect of racial profiling will be catastrophic.

This is happening in Arizona because Congress has failed to act on a comprehensive immigration reform bill that could go a long way toward fixing our immigration system.

Comprehensive immigration reform can secure our borders, create a workable visa system, make employers pay taxes, and hire legal workers, and legalize immigrants who earn the right to be here.

Congress can do it without Arizona taking away our civil rights.
